Project Resumes... and GFX stuff

Well, I managed to reassemble a simplified recording studio. I won´t be able to do multitrack projects for a while, but at least I´m still working.

So, I´m starting to put some time on the project again.
Now, if you are skilled with graphics and spriting, I might be needing your help. Here are the enemy sprites I drew:

Feel free to criticize my drawing style. Anyway, if you want to be the project´s official spriter, just pick any of these enemies, shade or redraw it to fit the zero mission / super metroid style. There´s no color limitations, but it should look like 16 bit age enemies.
You can contact me via mail or MSN messenger at this address: doctorm64@live.com.
So, sharpen your photoshop pencils and good luck!

The entrance to the second ruins (that will be a bridge someday)

Glad to hear you're (somewhat) back on your feet.

I don't think your enemy sprites look bad, BTW. Visually, I'd say work hard on your tileset to make sure it captures that SR388 feel and doesn't take too much else from Fusion or MZM.

So far, you're doing well. Will we ever get another demo that'll let us run around part of the 'actual' game and scrub a few Metroids?

Your sprites are not amazing, but if you couldn't find help, they would be just fine. They seemed a little rough around the edges. Glad progress it still being made though. Keep it up.

It's incredible how much effort you've already put into this game.

Keep up to good work :)

Ah, if only I was good at anything else but music and writing! :( Glad the project's up again, and I like those sprites as-is... I don't know what else I would do with them.

As a big mega fan of Metroid & Turrican, I spoke of your project on a french retro gaming forum, and people there are very entoushiasts with your awesome results.

We want to tell you that even in France, we're waiting for the new Return of Samus !

Good luck !

Hmm, those sprites aren't Bad (they're a hell of a lot better then any pixel art I've ever produced) But there is something about them that's a bit off. I hope you're able to find a good pixel Artist (and you don't get C&Ded).

are you going to make a metroid battle anytime soon, I would realy love a tech demo. But only if you have the time I dont want to delay the making of the game

I found your website while I was looking for an itemless map of M2 and I have to say I'm completely blown away at what you've accomplished.

I'm thoroughly impressed at your work, and the demo was a fun romp, too.

As for your sprites, they're put together well, but I would try to use darker colors, probably a blue-tinted color set to really get the underground feeling going.

I wish I was a good enough GFX artist to help you out, this is def something I'd love to be apart of.

However all I can do is support you, so good luck with everything man. Thanks for the constant updates too, even if theres no significant news its relieving to hear word from a project every two weeks or so.

I agree that the color scemes need dto be darker. It doesn't look exactly like its in a cave. Being in black and white helped the original get that feel. Good job though.

Too much pillowshading on a few things...

Try posting them on Pixeltendo (sprite ripper forum and sprite creations) for tips.

I have downloaded what I believe to be the latest dev release and it is awesome! I am absolutely amazed at the creativity that you have put into this project, not to mention time!

I am an avid Metroid fan and I have looked all over the net for non-hack versions of metroid.

Keep up the nice work, and keep us posted!

P.S. Just out of curiosity, is there a way to get a controller to work with the game?

I'll help with the enemy sprites. I'm Timmehboy from MP2D. I've normally sent you a PM on the forum where I've summed up ideas for your game.

Yah! after you get the metroids out you should releas another demo! You could make it up to like 3 or 4 metroids. By the way, iv ben looking for some new metroid sprites, like the omega metroid from fusion. Iv found some gama sprites that look like they where ment to be in fusion, but thats all. i look foward to see how the metroids will look.
