NCFC 2010 is almost here...

This year´s NCFC is about to begin, and AM2R has a booth ready to show some exclusive material.
There are other great fangames being displayed too, so I can´t recomend it enough.
I might be on the chat on certain occasions, and don´t forget to listen to the radio show, DJ Yoshiman is awesome.

Oh, and there will be a little surprise tomorrow.
Have fun!

Been following this project for a few months. Well.. more like eight. I cant wait to see what you have in store for us. Keep up the good work!
Hopefully Confrontation v2 isn't TOO different so that I can use it for my hard mode speed run.

Oh, and may I recommend renaming the "1item" speed run to "1%"? That's the terminology normally used for Metroid games.

For some reason your booth (http://am2r.x10.bz/) is blocked under the category of "Spyware/Malware Sources". What's up with that? Maybe you should post your NCFC material here as well to avoid potential problems.

Your project has the highest rating amongst the Metroid projects there! And is also one of the highest rated amongst all the projects!

Way to go! :)
It's now October 25 in all the worlds' timezones...

18/25 items in the new demo :O!

nicee new demo :D!
Nintendoer said…
I see the Chozo have also found their way to this unknown planet...

Nice demo, doc. =D
One little thing I might mention; There's a room where you need to use a bomb to go further down. If you shoot the bomb block, open the map, and close it again, the block disappears. It doesn't go away, it's just no longer visible.

Also, nice save animation. =P Keep up the good work!
Anonymous said…
22/25 items with the first try ^^
The Demo is really nice, but there is one thing I don't like.
Items are not shown on the map...
Anonymous said…
So will the full game be released before the end of the year?
Bunnypoppop said…
Awesome new demo! I loved the new save, and the bosses. I got 17/25 in 31 mins, but meh, I'm not the best metroid player, I just love metroid :)
Keep up the great work and I hope to see the full game soon.
I also think you should actually make a metroid game of your own, the demos are awesome XD
please finish the game as soon as possible!! can´t wait any longer, just have to repeat the demo again and again because the gameplay and controls are to fantastic!!! best metroid game ever!!!

amazing demo! The physics are flawless. Keep up the great work!

Supprize you say?

I like the sound of that!!!
Anonymous said…
idk why, I liked the previous demo a lot more :/ Samus looks a bit weird in this one too. But still, it was awesome. I don't really like the quickpaced techno music that much, I loved the weird ambience music that metroid 2 had.

The are wasn't so comfterable to move around

wow the second demo is amazing. I just have 1 itty bitty tiny suggestion: xbox360 controller full support. It' impossible to do multiple walljumps with the analog stick and it would be nice to be able to use the analog triggers as buttons, just that.

OH MY GOD....AWESOME NEW DEMO!!!
You are truly amazing for continuing your work and doing it so well. I'm so excited for the full release and applaud you for your dedication.

Good to see someone finally do something with those Crocomire sprites. I was very pleasantly surprised with that little bit there. I probably wouldn't have given him so much health though. A 3-4 minute fight is a bit much outside of a hack-and-slash game no matter how you slice it.

On another note, nice Omega. I didn't like your Zetas (and unless you've made significant changes to it I still don't), but your Omega really seems to fit in well with the environment you're creating.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Unlike the rest of these whiners, I wont be asking about your progress or release schedule, because if I were in your place I would find that EXTREMELY ANNOYING. Nor will I tell you to take your time, because you'll do that anyway. Just make sure to have fun with it, 'cause if you're not having fun with it, neither will I when I play it.

can someone tell me how to add the mods to the old demo?

First of all THANKS, loved the new demo, i am sure you will/ have KICKED ASS at the Nintendo fan game convention...

Your work is ALWAYS TRULY APPRECIATED ....

A FRIEND, A FAN OF A CLASSIC GAME BEING MADE BETTER.........

Great demo! I haven't play it through but so far its really.
However I notices a few things seem rush or weird: When you put enter at Samus's ship or at a save station the map screen shows up before it saves.
Anonymous said…
Metroid: Confrontation 2 kicked ass! It was actually a really fun, legitimate demo. The story worked and the game play was very fun. Nice job. Can't wait for the actual game.
Jasper said…
on my first playthrough, i went through the whole demo without the charge beam :/ couldnt find it. i only got 16/25 items.

so i kinda thought i was still at the beginning of the game since you're supposed to get the charge beam early, and then it ended and i was like "oh.."

but overall it was great. tons of backtracking and maze like structure made it better than even Other M in that sense :P

i still think the footsteps are too loud, the high jump is too high, and now i think you made the speed booster even faster to turn on, which feels weird.
Anonymous said…
No entiendo, que alguien me diga cual es la sorpresa!!!
Anonymous said…
Doc, I'd like to recommendfor the final game that you have an option to choose between pressing a button to toggle the weapon on and off (Super Metroid Style) or hold it down (Fusion / Zero Mission Style)
The reason why is I played the demo and it was really uncomfortable to fire missiles, especially when I would have to fire them while jumping, moving, and aiming on a diagonal. At one part while trying to hold all those buttons down while fighting Kraid my hand slipped and I ended up firing my last two super missiles into the air, when they would've won the battle if they had hit. It would be much easier to aim with the missiles if here was an option to toggle them instead of holding. I think this is an important feature you should include in the final game, since missiles are so important for fighting the Metroids while they are flying around and dodging. It'd make playing this game with a keyboard much smoother and easier.

Doc u really had make a great job with the demo, sorry if my english is not so good but im from chile and im not good at writing :P, i cant wait more for the game, I usually watch the previews on youtube XD but only onde detail: in Metroid zero mission when u use the speedbooster while running, a certain kind of aura is around samus, just like the preview 4 of AM2R but it only appears when u use the speedbooster verticaly or diagonally :S and the other thing that the last guy before me said, the thing with the missiles.
I know that im nothing to mate such a critic but is just a detail that I figured out. Again sorry for my bad english. Im waiting for ur game, good luck

I forgot to say this earlier so I'll say it now: there's something that I've seen demonstrated in all your trailers regarding enemies that can only be hit in one spot to be damaged, and that is that the area that has to be hit to do damage is too small. Take Crocomire for example: Instead of making players have to hit the very center of the back of his throat to push him back, you could just make him take damage if a shot hit him somewhere inside his mouth and be done with it. Using your trailers as reference, this applies to the Metroids too.

I had to throw that out there. I'm an awesome shot and I can totally hit smaller damage zones, but it does get a little annoying when I fire two missiles and one does damage and the other one gets bounced off because there's a few pixels difference between it and the first one. This will be especially problematic if you intend for players to have to use the same number of missiles to take down the Metroids as they had to in the original. If every other shot bounces off than players are going to end up running out of ammo and having to keep retreating.

hey a found a serious error in the new demo... how would i go about letting you know about it? Should i even bother telling you since it is only a demo?
Anonymous said…
Oh my god....why is Kraid so friggin' hard!!
Zacca said…
DoctorM64, I really enjoyed the new confrontation demo but I found a glitch that you may want to fix. The glitch is basically a super jump. What you do is stand right next to a wall, with plenty of room above, and hold the run button in the direction of the wall and press the fire and jump button at the same time that causes Samus to do a super jump that is two times higher than a high jump. I don't know if this is intentional but I figured I'd let you know in case you don't want this in AM2R when it's finished.
Zacca said…
Doc, about my post earlier for the super jump glitch, I realised you can do it without a wall, you just need to hold the fire, jump and right or left directional buttons during the jump. Hope this helps.

Hey Anon at October 27, 2010 12:24 AM go ahead and say it, if not here then maybe in the forums, if you get it out in the open now it can be addressed then assessed which in turn would be great for us all in the end.
Anonymous said…
@ mirahsan2

its the Anon who mentioned an error... I'll post it, but I also screencapped it so can i post the picture here or should I just go to the forums? And one last question.. Can i post in the forums as an anonymous user or do I have to make an account?

No entiendo!! en donde descargo en nuevo demo que hay? todos los links estan rotos

The updated demo's brilliant. Although I was surprised by how few powerups you put in this version. I missed having the spider ball and charge shot.

And I seriously 2nd the one button for switching ammo option. It would make the game a lot easier for some of us.
Ezekiel Rage said…
i figured you can get the bombs, missles ect without ever getting the morphabll. problem is, once youre in the room you get the bombs, you need the morphball to get out. i got stuck sicne i havent gotten the ball yet...
Anonymous said…
Hey, Anonymous October 27, 2010 10:40 PM

The charge shot is in the demo, you just haven't found it yet...

You remember the part in Zero Mission, in the Chozo Ruins where there were those bird head shaped security statues that are on the wall?... Ok, well there's a room with those thing in it in the demo, I'm sure you've been there... in the bottom right of the room there is a ledge you can grab on to... morphball in that little empty block and lay a bomb... Tah Dah! Charge Beam!

hey Doc, 2 days ago I had mentioned something about the button to toggle missiles like super metroid and the thing about the speedbooster, I would like to ask u to respond about this, can u comment here about that, it is only that I really want to know abou this
greetings from chile :)

I've managed to play through the Demo. 56 minutes of pure fun! Can't wait for the release :-)

gracias y chau

Well, finally got 100% on the new demo. ^_^

You really had me stumped there. The missile tank in the vertical shaft leading to Ridley (You know the one I'm talking about!) was the only item I couldn't find myself. Well done!

I'd love to see more cleverly hidden items in the game when it's finally released. Keep up the good work Doc!
Jasper said…
i found the charge beam. honestly, i'm glad the real game is a remake so really hidden important upgrades like that wont be super hidden. it's cool and all but save it for things like the jump ball.

a comment i'd like to make is, the feature where you climb tiles 1 - 2 squares high by pushing forward + jump button is brilliant! it made the game amazing. but i'd like you to take out the need to push the jump button. Metroid Other M has that feature and you only need to push forward, and i like that better than having to push the jump button. at least for the tiles only 1 square high.
